Eligibility

Introduction

Communities in Charge is open to a wide variety of project sites and focuses on accelerating the deployment of Level 2 EV charging stations. Applicants whose project site is located in a qualified Multifamily Housing site or a Tribal community may qualify for increased funding. In addition to elevated funding opportunities, the Communities in Charge project intends to elevate historically under resourced communities via an equity-based scoring rubric found in the Implementation Manual.

Applicant Eligibility

To participate in Communities in Charge, Applicants must:

  • Be the property owner, lessee, or authorized representative
  • Be the one who incurs the cost

The Project will prioritize Ready to Go applicants and utilize a scoring rubric which elevates Community Connections, Disadvantaged, Low-Income, and Tribal Communities. Community Connections were established in partnership with the Project Team, GRID Alternatives, Community-Based Organizations, and the California Energy Commission as locations where community members live and frequently gather. Project sites such as these receive preferential scoring and a higher chance of receiving funding.
